Giacomo Vianello

Giacomo Vianello is Founding Machine Learning Lead at Instawork Robotics, where he leads the Machine Learning and AI strategy and builds and manages the team that executes it. Specifically, he works on designing AI and machine learning-based products across the entire stack, from model development to their integration into digital products for the robotics industry. Previously, he spent six years at CAPE Analytics (acquired by Moody's Analytics in 2025), a Silicon Valley startup specializing in solutions for the insurance and real estate sectors. As Lead and Principal Data Scientist, he developed AI systems capable of extracting insights from geospatial imagery, transforming vast amounts of data into practical risk analysis tools. Later, as Director for Moody's Analytics, he conceived and led the internal incubator for developing innovative AI and Machine Learning solutions.

Giacomo is also an instructor in Computer Vision, Machine Learning Operations, and Multimodal AIand for Udacity, where he has released numerous online learning courses. Before entering the tech world, he spent nearly ten years at Stanford University as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Scientist, applying machine learning to astrophysical data collected by NASA. He holds a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Insubria and is the author of over 100 scientific publications. His career combines research, data science and product development AI applied to real-world problems.
